DDA: How Abeille Assurances manages compliance for its employees and network on a large scale
By leveraging xLMS, Abeille Assurances is transforming the regulatory requirement for 15 hours of DDA training into a collaborative management system that combines compliance, autonomy and traceability.
With over 170 years of history and an extensive multi-channel network, Abeille Assurances (part of the Aéma Group) operates within a unique ecosystem that brings together in-house staff and independent intermediaries. However, this highly effective model presents a real challenge when it comes to ensuring regulatory compliance across all relevant stakeholders.
With over 14,000 learners from a wide range of backgrounds — general agents, brokers, advisers, head office staff and partners — the diversity of the network makes a standardised approach to monitoring essential. This network, which spans from branches to thousands of life insurance brokers, highlights the importance of automated and consolidated management within xLMS.
Every year, the European Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) requires all insurance professionals to complete a minimum of 15 hours of certified training. This is a mandatory requirement not only for Abeille’s 4,200 employees, but also for external agents and partners.
Problem: whilst the requirement is collective, the learning pathway remains individual — each learner is free to choose their own content. In this context, how can we ensure that everyone completes their 15 hours? How can we offer autonomy without losing control over regulatory risk?
xLMS: the key to smooth and secure management
To address these three challenges, Abeille Assurances has chosen xLMS as its platform for managing DDA training.
The system is based on three pillars:
For learners:
An individual DDA Passport detailing all hours completed, which can be exported and printed, including for training courses undertaken outside the platform.
For managers:
A real-time monitoring platform that identifies discrepancies and supports teams in achieving compliance.
For HR and training departments:
Automated exports, ensuring reliable reporting and simplifying regulatory audits.
Tangible results
- 100% of employees registered on xLMS;
- 15 hours of certified training for each person;
- automated and secure reporting that training teams can access at any time.
From compliance to trust
But beyond simply monitoring performance, the initiative has boosted confidence across the network: staff now have greater autonomy, managers have a clearer overview, and the training department spends less time on manual data entry and can focus on providing support.
Turning an obligation into a mark of professionalism
In an industry where compliance is non-negotiable, Abeille Assurances treats the DDA as a common foundation of expertise and a strategic management tool.
Training is no longer just a box to tick: it reflects a cohesive, accountable and committed network — where every member, whether an employee or a freelancer, contributes to the quality and reliability of the customer relationship.
Compliance, autonomy, traceability: xLMS enables Abeille Assurances to turn a regulatory requirement into a driver of trust and cohesion.
